Briefings
PAYE orientation for first hires
Payroll cues before the first offer letter.
From our advisers
Payroll cues before the first offer letter. At Business Now we write from Sandton and regional offices, not from a brochure. PAYE orientation for first hires is the note we wish founders had before the week turned loud. We keep the language plain, the steps countable, and the next link obvious: a toolkit tile, a play, or a booked hour with sales@.
What the week usually looks like
Most SA SMEs under twenty people run on partial systems: a WhatsApp thread that acts as a CRM, a shared drive that is also a junk drawer, and a founder who is still the backup for every role. In that context, this briefing is less about theory and more about protecting Tuesday. We map the decisions that must happen before payroll, before a mall weekend, or before a first export carton leaves Durban. It is easy to overbuild the folder on day one.
Practice we defend
Start with one blocker sentence. Open one toolkit tile. Run the checklist leaf before you decorate the brand. Print the cadence card so load-shedding cannot erase the plan from a whiteboard alone. When you need a human, email sales@businessnow.co.za with the city, the play name, and a photo of the checklist, not a fifteen-page pitch deck.
South African caveats
CIPC, SARS, mall landlords, and couriers each have their own tempo. Coastal humidity changes packing notes. Inland dust changes equipment habits. Power windows change meeting length. We name those constraints because ignoring them is how calm weeks become crisis weeks. We also refuse fiction: this site does not claim to replace attorneys, auditors, or licensed advisors. It orients the founder so specialist time is shorter.
Where to go next
Pair this briefing with Tax-Ready Folder. Browse related plays for the path, and cadences for the rhythm. If the blocker is still stuck after the checklist, book Advisory Hour. Operated by Astros Marketing (Pty) Ltd, Sunnyrock 1401, mailto only, en-ZA.
